Have you sprouted lentils? If you haven’t tried sprouting lentils, then you are missing out on a lot. These Sprouted Lentils look great, are easy to digest, and are packed with nutrients. Vegan? Yes! Gluten-free? Oh, yes! You can eat these lentil sprouts!

How to sprout lentils

It takes 2 or 3 days to grow lentil sprouts at your home.

It’s very simple and quick to do:

Soak one cup of green lentils overnight in a large dish with three cups of water. Then drain and rinse the lentils. Place them in the bowl, and cover it with a towel. Let them sit in the bowl for 8 hours. Shake the bowl gently or shake it to ensure that all the lentils are getting enough air. Wait another 8 hours.

Repeat the above steps for 2-3 days. On the third day, you will notice that the sprouts are getting longer. You can choose how long the sprouts should grow. Once you have the desired length, place them in an airtight container and refrigerate them. Now you can use them however you like.

Spice them up

Let’s now spice up our lentils. Ingredients:

  • Cooked corn
  • Lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Cumin
  • chili powder
  • curry powder
  • Finely chopped thyme, or any other herb you prefer

In a small mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, cumin powder, chili powder, Curry powder, and thyme. Pour the liquid over the sprouted corn and lentils. Toss.

Sprouted Lentils Benefits

  • Sprouting lentils makes them easier to digest, and you can get more nutrients from them.
  • The germination of lentils changes their composition. also increases the amount of vitamins and minerals found in lentils, such as vitamins B and C and carotene.
  • Sprouting lentils helps to prevent intestinal gas.
  • Regular lentils have higher levels of protein and fiber.
  • It is healthy to consume the enzymes that are still active in a sprout.

There is also another major advantage. They can be eaten RAW. We can retain the nutritional value that is lost when cooking. It also saves time, as it only takes 5 minutes to make a tasty sprouted lentil salad if you already have it stored in your fridge.

Oooh! These are so tasty, that I almost forgot. These have a spicy and crunchy bite. Fresh and delicious!

One cup of lentil sprouts has only 82 calories. The total carbohydrate content is 17g, and the protein content is nearly 7g.

Uses

You can eat lentils raw or cooked. You could use them in sprouted soup. They are similar to regular lentils. They are delicious when I replace regular lentils in my Lentil Soup, or when I make Green Lentil Pilaf.
